Our History

The formation of Marthoma Congregation Dublin South has its history dating back to September 2006 when the first cottage prayer of Dublin South area fellowship ( Prayer group of Nazareth Marthoma Church Dublin) was held. This was strengthened over the years, with numerous families joining the area in prayer for fellowship and building up faith and encouragement.

In 2020, the whole world went into lockdown and the churches all over went into lockdown and then changed to online services. By 2021 the restrictions were lifted regarding religious gatherings but having a cottage prayer at any of the homes was not feasible due to the growing number of families. The desire to see our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and the strong urge to renew our faith and fellowship led us to renting Nazarene Community Church in Wicklow from October 2021 to hold our bi-monthly area prayer. This was further elevated to the status of a congregation in effect from August 2022, following the Diocesan episcopal visit in July 2022. Thereafter we became Mar Thoma Congregation Dublin South.

The 6th of August 2022 will be remembered among the Dublin South congregation members as an auspicious day. As a result of unending God's grace and team effort, the first Holy Communion of Mar Thoma Congregation Dublin South was held on 6th August 2022 at Nazarene Community Church in Wicklow by our Vicar Rev. Varghese Koshy.

The Congregation express their gratitude to our Vicar Rev Varghese Koshy, the mother Parish, Nazareth Marthoma Church, Dublin and Nazarene Community Church, Wicklow for their support and nurture over the past period and most importantly, to the Almighty for the abundance Grace received. The members request your continued prayers during these early and challenging days.
